On Monday 23rd June we had our End of Year mass to mark our SNA Mrs Lyla Dolan’s retirement. Lyla was a part of the school community of Scoil Bhríde for 18 years and has always been a steady, reassuring presence in the lives of many children that have passed through our school doors. We will miss her but we wish her all the very best as she starts the next chapter in her life. Go n-éirí an bóthar leí!

On Monday 23rd June we had our end of year mass to mark the graduation of our 6th Class. Fr O’ Connor presented each pupil with their graduation certificates. Congratulations to a great 6th Class and we wish them all the best as they move into secondary school.
We held our Annual Sports Day on Wednesday 18th June. It was a terrific day filled with lots of spills and thrills, thank you to Ms Rahill and 5th and 6th class who did a great job of organising all the events for everyone. Ms Browne presented each child with a certificate and an ice-lolly for their outstanding contribution and participation. Well done to all!

On Thursday 19th June we acknowledged and thanked our EAL teacher Ms O’Reilly for her dedication and hard work over the last two years. For our EAL pupils she was a steady and reassuring presence as they navigated a new environment, school and language after leaving their home country. дякую Ms O’Reilly!

We are delighted to receive a SFI Gold Curious minds award for our engagement with Science and STEM for this school year. We are the only school in Cavan to have received the Gold Award. Here is the message we received from the curious minds team;
Congratulations to everyone at Scoil Bhríde on your award! Your submission clearly shows that there was a huge amount of STEM work done in the school this year. It was brilliant to see the whole school getting involved. There was a wide range of really interesting investigations carried out, like circuit building, coding, a visit to the bee barn and an investigation into forces using raisins and fizzy water! Your engineering activities were particularly strong. It looks like the STEM Show and Tell was a great success, with very interesting presentations too! Keep up the fantastic work and well done on your award – it’s a real credit to the learners, teachers, and entire school community!
Well done to all the teachers and the children for engaging so well with all the activities. Congratulations!

Well done to both our girls’ and boys’ football teams who competed in the Cumann na mBunscoil competitions on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th May. Although no silverware is heading our way this year, both teams put in a tremendous effort and represented their school community very well. Thank you to Ms McDermott and Ms Rahill for coaching and looking after both teams this year.
On Friday 23rd May we welcomed in two very special trophies won by some of our talented Irish dancers at the World Irish Dancing Championships. How lucky we are to have world champions in our school, we are extremely proud of them all!

On Wednesday 21st May in glorious sunshine , the children welcomed cyclists competing in Stage 1 of the Rás Tailteann. There was great excitement as the cyclists whizzed by us on their way to Boyle, Co Roscommon.
Congratulations to our 2nd Class children who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday 10th May. Thank you to Ms McDermott for all her hard work in preparing the children for their special day, to Fr O’Connor who has guided them on their journey and to our school choir who sang beautifully on the day. Thank you kindly to our parents Amanda, Ciara, Orla, Sarah and Olivia who did a brilliant job decorating our church, school hall and who provided tea/coffee and refreshments for all after the mass. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir!
