Congratulations and best wishes to our 6th class pupils Ryan Gibson, Sophie Kearney, Cody McPhillips, Charlie-Mai Smith, Aaron Farrelly, Sarah Plunkett, Kaiden Kelly, Dervla Smyth-Moran, Niko Chachaj, Cara Clinton, Ryan Kelly,
Sophie Lynch and Gavin Duffy who received the sacrament of confirmation yesterday.  May the Holy Spirit guide them and give them the courage to navigate the many ups and downs that life will bring in the years ahead.

Well done to all the pupils in 5th and 6th Class who successfully completed their Cycle Right training programme today.  Cycle Right is the national standard for cycle training and aims to equip children with the skills needed to cycle safely on the road.  Over the past four weeks, pupils developed practical cycling skills, learned how to manage real road situations and had lots of fun!!

We had an action-packed Science Week filled with curiosity, discovery and hands-on learning!  Kathleen O’Hagan joined us for a workshop exploring the lifecycle of the brown trout and the water cycle.  The pupils enjoyed learning about these natural processes at work and how they connect to our local environment, Lough Sheelin.

5^th and 6^th Class tuned into a webinar about What happens to the human body when bitten by a venomous snake? This definitely captured everyone’s attention! 

Throughout the week, we carried out lots of exciting experiments, including:
Making oobleck and exploring its unusual properties
Investigating water density
Learning how air acts as a force
Creating a magnetic field, a water propelled rocket, starbust cup and water fireworks…

5th and 6th Class pupils recently took part in a Touch Rugby Blitz in Crosserlough GAA grounds.  Both teams played very well and enjoyed their afternoon.  

Our Visit to the Ombudsman for Children

 5th and 6th Class had a great visit to the Ombudsman for Children’s Office in Dublin, on Wednesday 22nd October.  Pupils took part in a fun workshop all about the Rights of the Child.  It was a very informative and enjoyable day for all.  

Maths Week 2025

We had a brilliant time celebrating Maths Week 2025 in Scoil Bhríde this week! The children participated in all sorts of fun activities, including maths trails, maths chat, card games, number plate sums and even guessing the weight of the pumpkin!

Our 5th and 6th Class pupils were especially busy as they designed and made their own maths board games, which they loved sharing and playing with the other classes.

It was a fantastic week full of fun, laughter, and lots of maths.  Well done to everyone for taking part and showing that maths really is all around us! 

5th and 6th Class pupils participated in Space Week in October by creating new planets and describing their planets’ unique features in a written activity.  They also engaged in a collaborative ‘STEM’ task to design a Space Station.
