Our School Crest

This school year the pupils will proudly wear our new school crest.

The joined hands in the crest symbolise the value of friendship, promoting unity among our pupils. The book represents our commitment to learning and knowledge, encouraging a love for education. The cross honors our namesake St Brigid. The bridge represents the connection to our village of Mountnugent, reminding us of our roots and the community we serve. Lastly, the Latin phrase “Semper Doctrina” serves as a reminder that we are always learning and growing together.

Together, these elements embody the spirit of our school and the shared journey we embark on as a learning community.

Special mention to the  6th Class pupils of 2021, Jamie Lynch, Nisha Finnegan, Ellie O’Reilly and Shauna Gibson whose creations were combined to make our school crest. Thank you also to former parent and graphic designer Thor Siksai who created the digital image of our crest.

Slán agus Beannacht don Rang a Sé

On Thursday 20th June we had our end of year mass to mark the graduation of our 6th Class. Fr O’ Connor presented each pupil with their graduation certificates. How lucky we are as a school community to have had such a brilliant 6th class this year, thank you 6th class and we wish you all the best as you move into secondary school.

Sports Day 2024

We held our Annual Sports Day on Friday 31st May. It was a terrific day full of spills and thrills! Ms Browne presented each child with a certificate and an ice-lolly for their outstanding contribution and participation. Well done to all!

Cumann na mBunscol 2024

Well done to our boys’ and girls’ football teams who competed in the Cumann na mBunscol blitz competitions recently.  Although, results did not go our way, both teams gave a great account of themselves and enjoyed their football!

Curious Minds 2024

We are delighted to receive a SFI Gold Curious minds award for our engagement with Science and STEM for this school year. Here is the message we received from the curious minds team;

“Well done to all at Scoil Bhride for a great range of activities across the school. It is great to see how you are involved in community activities such as the Eco-Fare. It is also particularly good to see how you have used measurement and technology as part of activities such as baking and learning about other countries, showing that STEM skills are relevant to so many different things that we do in our lives.”

Well done to all the teachers and the children for engaging so well with all the activities. Congratulations!

Trip to Dáil Éireann

5th and 6th Class pupils enjoyed a trip to Dáil Éireann on Tuesday 7th May.  They were greeted at the gates of the Dáil by local TD Johnny Guirke and were shown around the grounds before our official tour.

Pupils completed The 1916 Easter Rising and The Irish Free State units in History which aided them in understanding their tour.   They also did projects on each of the sixteen Taoisigh.

It was a very enjoyable day and one which they will always remember.

Eco-Fare 2024

We were delighted once again to take part in the Mountnugent ICA Eco-Fare. The children in Junior and Senior Infants drew a picture of their favourite animal and the children from 1st-6th Class created a poster/slogan promoting a litter-free environment. The children’s artwork was then displayed in the community centre. Pictured below are some of our 3rd and 4th Class children with their potted plant that all the children in our school received for taking part in the Eco-Fare. Thank you kindly to the ICA who presented each child in our school with a plant, we are looking forward to next year already.
